Routing and Mobility Performance in Wireless Base-Station Networks1

This paper focuses on the scalability of mobile, wireless, basestation-oriented networks. In our study of base-station networks, we investigate the performance limits and communication complexity of the protocols and services under mobility and subject to dynamic behavior of hosts and basestations. In addition, we discuss the requisite development and implementation of the base station network architecture made to the wireless models in OPNET version 7. These include: multiple wireless interfaces, an exclusive control channel, a mobility “handoff” process, a “semi-broadcast” OSPF routing algorithm, and router (IP) mobility functions.
